MANIC MONDAYS
Do you have a "case of the Mondays," every single Monday? Irritable, moody, and extremely tired, even though you had an entire weekend off? For me, whenever an amazing weekend comes to a close, I wake up feeling super anxious on Monday morning. It's just always been hard for me to "reset." I used to always feel this way when a new school year started. The worst is coming back home after an incredible vacation. How am I supposed to just go back to my basic routine?
What I've come to learn is that Mondays only suck if you make it feel that way. I once read a quote that said, "if you make time for joy on Mondays, Sundays won't feel so scary. Life should be lived every day of the week." I honestly couldn't agree more. Ever since then, I made it a habit to find something to look forward to on Mondays. Whether it be date night, happy hour, or having friends come over to visit, having something to look forward to after work truly made me happy. It's like adding a little sprinkle of the weekend feeling, into a regular weekday. It also sets the tone of how the rest of my week goes. If I don't do something on Monday, I find something to do another day. Living life where you solely look forward to the weekend for an escape isn't really a way to live, is it? We should find joy in the little things we choose to do during the week. Even if it's something as small as getting ice cream with your significant other after a long day of work or binge watching a TV show.
Last year I couldn't wait for Thursdays to come because I was obsessed with a show called Temptation Island. I would get so excited knowing it was #TemptationThursday. My friends and I also looked forward to "Podcast Tuesdays." While we don't actually have a podcast, or even listen to any podcasts for that matter, Tuesday used to be the day where we'd have girl time. We'd drink, eat and pretend we had our own podcast and talk to our fake listeners. Reading that as I write it makes me laugh because it seems silly, but it was so much fun. We no longer refer to Tuesday as "Tuesday", it's officially Podcast Tuesdays, whether we're together or not. Funny memory: when we all went to Nashville we pretended we were YouTubers and spoke to our fake audience while we got dressed. It's the moments like that i'll never forget.
I'm not saying you should go out and get crazy every day of the week because that eventually becomes taxing on your body. However, what I am saying, is stop living life weekend to weekend! We have seven days in a week to find something to look forward to. Once you start making time for those little things, somehow the weekdays seem more tolerable, Mondays seem less scary and Sunday evenings less dreadful! (Just kidding, Sundays still cause a small amount of anxiety no matter what.)
One thing I looked forward to this week was receiving my BoxyCharm package. Luckily for me it came today, and pretty much made my Monday. Like I said, sometimes it's the little things in life. I'll fill you guys in on my thoughts on the monthly subscription in another post.
